The new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 places wider statutory duties on Clients including the appointment of a CDM Co-ordinator
The CDM Co-ordinator’s responsibility is to co-ordinate the Health and Safety aspects of project design, ensure that appropriate notifications are given to the Health & Safety Executive and that a Health & Safety Plan is prepared for the project, giving essential information for the safe use, maintenance and adaptation of the facility.
Boxall Sayer is a Corporate Member of the Association for Project Safety and the role of Planning Supervisor forms part of our Quality Assurance Certification. This certification is currently being updated to the revised role of CDM Co-ordinator.
Technical staff receive training in the CDM regulations and hold a variety of appropriate qualifications. Chairman Clive Sayer has lectured on the subject for Portsmouth University. Michael Grimes amd Dennis Long have senior responsibility for CDM Co-ordinator services and Keith Potter is responsible for Health and Safety management.
Boxall Sayer has under the previous regulations acted as Planning Supervisor on numerous projects of various types and sizes. Examples include a series of developments for Greater Manchester Passenger Transport, the Royal Naval Museum, a new Accident & Emergency unit for the North Middlesex NHS Trust, and the Dorking Halls and Sports Centre including concert hall, cinema, swimming pool, sports hall, fitness centre and associated facilities for Mole Valley District Council, telecommunications and data handling installations for Univercity College Chichester..
We will bring to the new role of CDM Co-ordinator our established professional approach, a realistic appreciation of clients' requirements, and a practical approach to the issues involved.
